Millennium Award Scheme

In order to acknowledge and appraise the excellent performance of athletes and their coaches at overseas international events, the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association is delighted to present a Millennium Award Scheme to Hong Kong Team delegates with the criteria as listed below.

1.For Hong Kong representatives who have achieved outstanding results in international events as listed on (Table 1), prize money will be granted. The Executive Committee reserves the right to recognize any other international events that have not been included in this (Table 1).

2.All achieved results must be recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

3. Athletes who have reached the standards as listed on (Table 2) in heats / semi-finals /final in an event, only the best result will be counted.

4. Award for position will only be given to the athletes competing in an event with no less than 3 countries / regions (or provinces for competitions hosted in China). Athletes should also make better performance than representatives from the other two different countries / regions in order to qualify for the awards. If there are outstanding results made in Asian or World events but do not meet this criteria, the Executive Committee reserves the right to take special consideration to award the athlete.

5. For team/relay event, the value of prize money will be double and will be equally shared by those athletes who have competed either in heats or final of that event, and their coaches.

6. Based on the prize money as listed on (Table 1), 70% would be granted to the athlete, 20% should be given to his / her coach and the last 10% should be presented to his / her first coach. Athletes should submit names of these coaches before every competition.

7. If poor sportsmanship is reported against an athlete during the competition period and if such case is substantiated, the Executive Committee shall have the right to deduct up to 20% of the total prize money awarded to the athlete concerned in that particular competition.

8. This Award Scheme is effective from 1 January 2000. The Association has the right to amend the scheme whenever is necessary.
